PRESS RELEASE: HOUSTON BLAZE 2ND ANNUAL CENTRAL AMERICAN TOUR The Houston Blaze Basketball Organization will now be preparing for their 2nd Annual Central American Tour 2008. The Central American Tour will start September 7th - 13th and countries we'll Registration begins at 9 AM and the tryout will run to 5 PM. The tryout fee will be $100.00, cash or money order only, no checks accepted. The Blaze Organization is proud to announce the coach for the Central American Tour is NBA Legend Robert Reid. Robert played thirteen seasons (1977–1982; 1983–1991) in the NBA as a member of the Houston Rockets, Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Philadelphia 76ers. He had his best overall season in 1980-81, when he was the second leading scorer on the Rockets team that reached the NBA Finals before losing to the Boston Celtics. When he retired as a player in 1991, Reid had tallied 10,448 career points, 4,168 career rebounds, and 2,500 career assists. 'We are extremely fortunate that Mr. Reid has accepted the position as Head Coach,' said Team President Patrick Pellerin. 'With Robert, his desire to win and to be successful, both on and off the court, will translate to the players.' I am so excited and ready to go. It's going to be an amazing tour!' The Houston Blaze, a former Texas Professional Basketball League (TPBL) franchise now play an independent schedule has sent over 70 players on to pro careers with other leagues and teams in the past four years. After playing with the Blaze, players have gone to other U.S. leagues, such as the WBA, IBL, ABA, CBA and NBDL as well as leagues overseas in Asia, South America and Europe. Players have also successfully parlayed their experience with the Blaze to invitations to tryout camps for NBA teams as well.
